Sunny, Cloudy, Stormy, and Foggy

Check out some of my favorite posts near the end of the post.
My post last week reminded me about this teaching I heard at a Christian Women’s conference.
In her book Help! I’m Laughing and I Can’t Get Up, Liz Curtis Higgs tells about what she calls, The Four Humor Personalities.
They are, and I quote:
“Sunny – Fun-loving, people orientated, enthusiastic, and energetic, the Sunny soul loves life and enjoys being center stage, but hates getting organized, often arrives late, and never remembers names! Sunnies laugh no matter what the weather. Of those surveyed, 32 percent shone like the sun.
Cloudy - Serious, purposeful, logical, and neat, the Cloudy person is conscientious, thoughtful, and altogether wonderful-as long as you don’t mind having a moody perfectionist in your midst. Cloudies are saving their laughs for a rainy day. Among our contributors, 28 percent are not convinced every cloud has a silver lining.
Stormy – The born leader of the bunch, the stormy is part hard-working visionary who gets things done and keeps things moving, someone who isn’t too difficult to get along with, as long as you do it their way! Stormies laugh wherever and whenever they feel like it.
Foggy – Everybody’s friend, the peace-loving Foggy would rather watch then get involved, is a great listener and mediator, and has a dry sense of humor-when they’re not being a wet blanket! As laughers go Fogies are great smilers. Because they’re so quiet, you might not notice the 17 percent among those surveyed who are in a fog.”
Our family has had hours of fun and laughter discussing this topic. Try it – it would be a fun school project to try to determining each person’s personality type.
You really need to read the entire book to get all that she has to say about these humor types. I hope this will just make you want more – if so you can purchase her book Help! I’m Laughing and I Can’t Get Up on Amazon.
Let’s make some room for laughter in our homes and schools.

Did you overspend last month? Last year? Have you been overspending longer than you can remember?
It seems hard to stay on a budget these days as prices are on the rise. Could you use a few tips on setting up a budget that works, offers some “breathing room” and allows for savings when those unexpected expenditures pop up?
Know Your Monthly Income
First, you must know your monthly income. If you haven’t begun tracking your income and expenses, now is a good time to start. Next, make a list of all your recurring expenses starting withmortgage, utilities, phone, TV and internet. Add in any other monthly bill such as music or dance lessons, insurance, gas &groceries. It’s a good idea to make allowances for savings andentertainment or eating out. Even if you are only able to add in a small amount each month, it will eventually add up!
Savings
If you are not currently saving, try to make that a number one priority right along with paying bills, the mortgage and buyinggroceries. Dave Ramsey, one of the nation’s leading economic experts, suggests that all families have at least three month’s worth of savings. That means if your family spends $3000 a month on everything, to be safe and secure, it is recommended that you have $9000 in savings just in case you need it. This may seem like an overwhelming task, but the most important thing is to just begin. It may take quite a bit of time to get your savings up to a number that size but if you don’t start, your money can’t build.
It’s important to still have fun while you are living on a budget and as you try to put some money into savings. Look for frugal ways to have some fun with your family. Take strolls through the park, enjoy a picnic or check out a DVD from the library for a family movie night. It’s important to take time out to rest, relax and enjoy the little things in your life! Constantly working and not taking a break may cause you to become overwhelmed and stressed out.
Debt Free
I’d like to encourage you to focus on paying off debts as quickly as possible, if you have them. When you carry debt, you are paying interest. Even if you have a car that happens to be financed, you are most likely paying for additional insurance. Living within your means may seem like a challenge. You may need to focus on asking yourself if you really need a certain item vs. simply wanting it. Can you save for that special item and eventually pay cash for it? Challenge yourself to spend/save money in a new way in 2013.
Try not to use credit or finance things. Try to wait, save, buy used and pay cash. Living debt-free may be a difficult task at first but the longer you do it, the easier it may become.
Cut Cost When and Wherever Possible
Try to cut costs where ever you can, try these areas first:entertainment, groceries and gas. Is it possible to decrease your minutes on your phone plan? Do you need two cars? Do you need that specific size cable package?
Keep crunching the numbers and try to cut out all unnecessary expenses until you are able to achieve a balanced budget. Challenge yourself to stick to that budget and try to save a little bit more each and every month.
We’d love to hear your budgeting stories! Please tell us about your family, how many members in your household, yourfinancial goals and ways you are able to stay on a certainbudget. If you could give one piece of advice concerning budgets, what would it be?

We know not what we do
How sad to know that we care so little for our Lord and Savior.
He came and no one even saw who he was in his own town.
He gave us light and we saw darkness.
He gave us love and we found hatefulness.
He came so we might live and we sought to kill Him.
He cried for our sins and we mocked him.
His love gave us all and we rejected everything he gave.
Still he asked God to forgive for we knew not what we do.
The temples shook and the clouds covered the sun.
We feared for what we had done.
We knew not that we had killed Gods SON.
The dark angel laughed in delight as our souls we're his.
Still Jesus loved and died so we would know that HE still lives.
He arose from the grave and many were saved.
He appeared to his followers and he empowered them.
To finish the Son of Gods work, which we still do today.
Gods love is far greater than the dark angel's sin.

May you find laughter in each day.
May you never learn hate.
May you never walk alone.
May you find sunlight on a stormy day.
May your heart always be open to love.
May you always travel a new path in life.
May you spread your wings and soar.
May you see something beautiful in everyday.
May you always have a new dream.
May you always know you're loved.
May your soul find serenity.
May God's saving grace be with you always.
God's love; God's son, God's Holy Spirit.
Three in one!
These things I pray for you.
Amen

Itty Bitty Rock was tiny, but he wasn't shy about proclaiming his strength to the world.
"My muscles are stronger than the muscles of any other rock in the world!," he beamed.
"I wouldn't say that," chuckled Mrs. Itty Bitty Rock. "But they sure are handsome muscles. They are the muscles with which I fell in love."
Itty Bitty Rock's best friend, Teenie Tiny Stone, believed his muscles were the biggest and strongest in the Land of Rocks and Stones. "I'm very proud of my muscles," said Teenie Tiny Stone. "They make me the super hero of this community."
Teenie Tiny Stone and Itty Bitty Rock were candidates in their community's presidential election. Local rocks and stones had been keeping track of their human counterparts ' presidential debates. So Itty Bitty Rock and Teenie Tiny Stone agreed to their own series of debates.
Political parties did not exist in the Land of Rocks and Stones, so all candidates ran as independents. Election campaigns only lasted for one week. So following four days of media advertising and traveling the bumpy campaign trail, debates were held over the next three days.
Both candidates spent every available moment practicing for the debates. The first debate was held in the stadium where the community's football teams played its home games. Itty Bitty Rock, through his humor and charisma, handily won the debate.
Teenie Tiny Stone spent the first five minutes of the second debate enjoying a short nap. This debate was held in the studios of the local television station. Teenie Tiny Stone narrowly won this debate by focusing on the economy. He attributed the win to energy he received from his nap.
The third debate was hosted by a local church that was known for its love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Both candidates accepted the offer of the church's minster, Pastor Rockie Rockee, to moderate the debate.
The annual budget was the primary topic of the debate. The candidates spoke deliberately and forcefully about how they would solve the community's economic woes.
Each candidate took advantage of the opportunity to make a closing statement. Itty Bitty Rock went first. "My solution to the economy is to pray that God will bring healing to our fiscal problems," he said.
Teenie Tiny Stone agreed, then added, "Without God, our economy will continue to sink. But I believe God wants us to participate in the solution."
"What do you mean?," asked Itty Bitty Rock.
"We must stop printing and spending so much money," Teenie Tiny Stone replied. "Or all the money in the world couldn't buy a solution to the problem!"

Ever have to go on a super strict grocery budget? Where you're adding up everything you buy and being picky about what you'll actually leave with? [ME] You get to certain items that you HAVE TO HAVE like laundry soap and softener, look at the prices of them and think........man I wish that was .99 cents. We've already helped the budget out by going 'Poo free (read about HERE) and getting rid of paper and going to cloth. (read about HERE) We try to eat as healthy as possible, raw fruits and veggies, but lets face it, healthy is not cheap. Which leads me to looking at alternatives to everyday items.
Laundry Soap Recipe

3 TBSP Dish Soap
3 TBSP Washing Soda
3 TBSP Borax
Water
I recycled a detergent jug I had just finished off using to put my new homemade laundry soap in. [It helps if you have a funnel and a tea kettle.]
What To Do
Using a funnel, put the TBSP's of dish soap, washing soda and borax in your jug. Heat a few cups of water up in a tea kettle. Once the water is ready, fill the jug up about halfway. Put the cap back on and shake it up a bit so the ingredients will dissolve. Let it cool off at bit, cause it gets pretty hot, then pour enough cold water to fill up the rest of the jug. And, it's ready to use!
Tips: Dish soap we use is Palmolive with Oxy. It's done the job very well at getting out all our stains and spots. Have only had to use Shout once! You could buy a more sweet smelling dish soap to make your clothes smell extra special. & I either fill the cap all the way up or halfway. It depends on how large the load is.
PERKS
Lasts Forever! I do about 4 to 5 loads of laundry a week and have to make a batch of laundry soap about every month to month and a half. In the last 6 months since starting this, the only recipe ingredient I have to buy is the dish soap. Which we buy already. And I am no where near going through the big boxes of Borax and Washing Soda. They only cost a few dollars each and will last a very long long time.
Much Cheaper
Doesn't fade colors
Cleans clothes awesomely and smells fresh!
Personally we love this recipe, it works great for us and we will keep using it!
